New Ways to Communicate with You

I am experimenting with a new format for my newsletters. I hope you enjoy it. I know that you have a lot of email coming at you and I don't want to be just another piece of spam. I will try to send you useful information every few weeks as well as answer any questions you may have regarding massage and bodywork so please don't hesitate to send them to me. I will archive most of this information at jackiegaston.blogspot.com. This is my new blog and will eventually be connected to my website. There is an interview with me at
http://currentliving.wordpress.com/that I really like and I hope you will check it out.

CNN Says Massage Aids in Staying Well

A recent article feature online at CNN Health states that getting a massage is one of the top five secrets top avoiding to avoiding illness. Although the article is targeted at women, the information in it also applies to men.

"Most studies show that massage can reduce anxiety, blood pressure, and heart rate -- and lowering these is likely to cause your stress level to drop, one key to building immunity.
"Decreasing stress increases your immune cells," says Tiffany Field, PhD, director of the Touch Research Institute of the University of Miami School of Medicine.
Make massage work for you: Any type of rubdown is fine, as long as you ask for moderate pressure, Field says. The therapist's touch should be vigorous enough to move or indent skin but not so hard that it causes pain. How often do you need one? There's no science on that, but experts say once a month (or more) is worthwhile. Check with your insurance provider to see if massage therapy is covered. If cost is an issue, check out massage schools, which sometimes offer discounted services."

The article goes on to list taking cold showers, consuming ginger, vitamin C, zinc, and garlic as well as maintaining a positive outlook.

Bodywork for Your Animals

As some of you know, my dog Lani has bad knees. She recently seemed to have a problem with her back as well. I contacted a friend who put me in touch with Penny Stone (
http://wholehorsepower.com/). Penny does T-Touch and works on all kinds of animals. She is helping me learn techniques to help Lani. I highly recommend her if you have a four legged friend who is in pain.

October SpecialThis month I am offering a package of four massages at my studio for $175.00 This is a $65.00 savings off the price of buying them individually.

Thank You for taking the time to read my newsletter.
I hope to see you soon.
