Pagosa Springs

Yep, Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Stephen got a fantastic job here and we moved last month. I am looking forward to developing a massage and craniosacral practice here.

I think Pagosa Springs is the coolest town ever. To start with, there are no big box retail outlets here unless you count the grocery store. The nearest ones are an hour away in Durango. There seems to be quite a music scene here considering the size of the town.
There are numerous live music venues and several open mikes. I am looking forward to checking them out.

I have finally gotten the house put together and have been taking some drives in the mountains. Until last year, I had never seen aspens change color. I can only describe it as the world turning to gold when you drive through them. At a distance the mountains look like someone has thrown a patchwork quilt over them.

This will be my first winter in the mountains. Hope it doesn't snow too much.

Thanks to All of You

As I prepare to move to Santa Fe, I want to thank everybody who has helped make my business here in Austin a success . Not wanting to leave anybody without access to the bodywork they need, I have come up with the following list of therapists who I feel really good about recommending:

Rachel Ferguson is a wonderful therapist who works outcalls pretty much all over town. Her number is 512-789-3522.

Deborah Ramaker lives just down the street from me and has offered to provide services to those of you who have been in my massage club at similar prices. Her number is 512-758-9886.

I have worked with Colleen Fisher at the Driskill Hotel for a couple of years. She is a great therapist and a delightful human being. You can reach her at 970-376-3817.

I have also worked with Echo Bond at the Driskill for a number of years. She has a very warm and soothing energy about her. She can be contacted at 203-ECHO or through her website http://massagegarden.com/.

For those of you who have been microcurrent clients, I recommend Lauren Jordan. Call her at 512-743-7234 or visit her website http://www.pmubylauren.com/.

I hope this information is helpful. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need further assistance

Touch of the Hills

The wind is up and the hawks are screaming. It must be March. When we moved into this house two years ago this month, one of the first things I saw was a redtail circling about a foot over the top of the house with prey in his beak. He flew to a live oak in the neighbor's yard where he was joined by his mate, the biggest hawk I have ever seen. We soon realized that they were raiding squirrel nests that had been left exposed when the live oaks lost their leaves. A day or two ago, I took Lani for a walk through the neighborhood. At one point, we heard the hawks calling to each other at close range. I looked up and saw the female light on a utility pole. She called out to the male who swooped in and mounted her. I stood still and watched the birdie porn, totally amazed at what I was seeing.

Hawks are messengers and visionaries as totums. I always try to be vigilant regarding things I see and hear after I see one. I choose to believe that observing a pair of hawks in such an act of creation is an omen of good things to come, possibly the fruition of a long held desire. I am sharing this with you along with the hope that you will have your most cherished wish fulfilled soon.

The Magic Time Machine

That's What I'm Calling It

I have been working with the microcurrent machine for a couple of months now and I am extremely pleased with the results that I am getting. I hope to be able to publish before and after photos soon. It is doing some things that I that I had no idea that it would do. In addition to using it on faces to minimize lines and firm up the skin (think about under your chin), I have been using it on my abdomen and legs. My goal was to firm up the muscles just under the skin and to lose a little unwanted girth. I am happy to report that I just bought a pair of jeans in a smaller size than I wore 2 months ago. What has been really surprising, though, is the effect it has had on the very old scar tissue on my stomach and on the spider veins on my legs. The scar tissue has become much smaller and lighter. There are some places where it is no longer visible. The same goes for some of the spider veins. Email me if you want more information about the microcurrent treatments.
The price charged for this treatment by most spas in town is $500 for 6 treatments. Twelve treatments are recommended for maximum effect. Since I work in a home studio and keep my overhead low, I am able to offer a better rate. My introductory rates are $400 for your first six treatments. However, if you pay for all twelve treatments up front, the price will be $750. I will be happy to do a smaller number of treatments. Contact me if you want to work something out.

Massage Club Continues

I am continuing the massage club as long as people are interested. It works like this: You buy a one hour session with me at my regular rate of $60. At that time, you also schedule at least 3 additional sessions. These sessions will be priced at $45. Thereafter, as long as you keep at least 2 sessions booked at all times, you will get your sessions at the $45 rate. I do have some requirements as to cancellations and rescheduling that I will tell you about when you book the sessions. I am discontinuing the discounted gift certificates for the time being. The response was so great that I need time to catch up on the sessions before I sell any more massages at that rate.

Touch of the Hills
Newsletter January 3,2009

I hope you are as excited about the coming year as I am. I am overflowing with positive thoughts about our future. I could just as easily listen to all the hipe about how bad things are and how hard things are going to be, but that wouldn't be much fun, would it? I'd much rather create a situation in which we all have what we need to enjoy life. I do that by choosing to think about things in the best way possible. I have some help doing that and you can read about some of it in the last paragraph.

The Microcurrent Machine is Here

Since I work in a home studio and keep my overhead low, I am able to offer a better rate. My introductory rates are $400 for your first six treatments. Prosperity Partnership

I want to share something that has made a big difference in my life over the past year. In November 2008, I joined the Prosperity Partnership .I have really turned my outlook, and more importantly my inlook, around with this program. Elyse Hope Killoran really helps put things in perspective and makes sense out of all of the Law of Attraction talk that we have been hearing about for the past few years. She also has a sight called the Prosperity Portal that is worth checking out. There are a lot off free activities on both sites and I strongly encourage you to do on! e of her almost free trials. I think that the next one starts on January 18. Please list me as your referral source.

Newsletter December 10,2008

I am really excited about the microcurrent machine that I will be ordering in a few days and I am extremely thankful that I am able to do so. Big hugs to those of you who have prepurchased sessions. I have been so pleased with the results I have gotten with just a few microcurrent sessions that I want the opportunity to share this technology with everybody who wants it. I am extending the prepurchase deal until the end of this week. I am pretty sure that I won't go up to the standard $83.00 per session after the prepurchase period. I know that my price will increase after that time so contact me soon and let's see what we can work out for you.

Reiki Classes
by donation

I feel inspired to organize a Reiki I class very soon. My usual rate is $100 per level for Reiki I & 2. This time, I am doing it differently. I will accept Reiki students on a donation basis. I feel that it is important that an exchange in the value of at least $100 is made. However, I am not requiring that all of this exchange be made in cash or even to me. I would prefer that at least $40 cash to come to me for your class. The rest of the exchange may be made however you see fit. I'll leave it up to you and the Universe. You can donate the balance to your favorite cause, volunteer in your community in some capacity, pass the gift of Reiki along to someone who needs it....it's up to you. Contact me as soon as possible if you want to take a class. I will schedule when I get enough students. I only take 4 or 5 students at a time so I may need to schedule more than one class.

Trades and Barters
Things I'd Like to Have

As many of you know, I have made a lot of trades for goods and services. I have acquired all kinds of things from permanent make up to furniture and a kayak. I am currently seeking theh following things for which I prefer to barter: a computer armoire (must be solid wood, not pressboard), a rug for my studio (must be at least 8'X10'), leather living room furniture, hedge trimming. If you are anyone you know has these items and would care to barter for my services, let's deal.

Goodreads.com
In my last newsletter, I told you about goodreads.com. I hae since discovered that it is sponsored by Amazon.com and if you join, you will get a lot of emails from them with book recommendations. I don't really mind this but I wanted to let everybody know about it.

Touch of the Hills Newsletter
December 3,2008

Wow!! What happened to November? I sure know what happened in November. I was so engrossed in the election and its aftermath that I didn't concentrate on much else. I hope everyone is happy with the results. I am looking forward to some new leadership.

A few weeks ago, I sent an email about the microcurrent machine that I am about to acquire. The response has been good and I will most likely be purchasing the machine next week. Microcurrent is known as non-surgical facelift. I have had several sessions and am very pleased with the results, especially around my chin line. Treatments are usually priced at $300 for 5 sessions($83.33 per session). I am offering 4 sessions for $200.00 for those who pre-purchase. Everyone who takes advantage of this offer alse gets the $50 per session locked in for as long as I have the machine and am in business. This is the last call for this offer. Please contact me by December 8 if you are interested.

My Own Club

When I took a second look at the math for my last special, I discovered that I had gotten in line with the prices of the massage clubs that are springing up around town. I had several people take advantage of the great pricing. I had even more people tell me that they would have loved to do so but didn't want to or couldn't let go of the $175 for four sessions up front. I really want to make quality bodywork available to everybody who wants/needs it. To that end, I have decided to form my own massage club.

I am selling gift certificates at the rate of 4 for $180 until the end of December. These are for one hour sessions. You can give them for gifts or you can get together with friends and split them up however you see fit. You can even keep them all for yourself. As always, these special offers apply only to sessions in my studio.

Acupuncture and Horsing Around

I have been getting acupuncture from South Austin Community Acupuncture. Wally Doggett has found a way to make acupuncture very affordable. He has a room full of recliners in which his patients are seated. This allows him to treat mulitple patients at the same time and to charge for his services on a sliding scale. He is very good at what he does and I encourage you to check him out. his website is http://www.acupunctureworldheadquarters.com/ .

If you like to ride horseback, then Onion Creek Ranch is the place to go. Check it out at

What I Am Reading

I just finished The Daily Coyote by Shreve Stockton. We found Shreve's blog a few months ago and just had to get the book as soon as it was published. She is a remarkable woman who rode from San Francisco to NYC on a vespa, then turned around and moved to Wyoming because she had fallen in love with the place. Soon after, she became the guardian of an orphaned coyote pup. The book goes a lot deeper than taking care of the coyote. I don't want to say any more and spoil it for you. It is available from Barnes and Noble or from http://www.dailycoyote.net/

I was just invited to join a new social network built around books. http://www.goodreads.com/
